Middle East Conflict Disrupts Global Logistics, HMS Announces Expansion to Vietnam and AI Integration by 2026

13 March 2026

DAILY BOGOR RAYA — Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran are starting to have a serious impact on the global logistics industry. Disruptions to strategic shipping lanes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea have triggered an increase in transportation costs and extended the delivery time of goods across countries. This situation was highlighted at a joint iftar event held by logistics company Hyper Mega Shipping (HMS) in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 4, 2026. In this momentum, HMS management also announced the company's strategic direction to face the increasingly complex dynamics of international trade.

The event, which was attended by management, business partners, and all staff of the company, was also filled with tausiyah by Ustaz Dennis Lim with the theme "Ramadan: Momentum to Become a Better Person with Integrity." This spiritual message is a reminder for all elements of the company to maintain integrity and the spirit of self-development in the midst of industrial challenges.

In the midst of uncertain global conditions, HMS affirms its commitment to strengthening international logistics connectivity while increasing efficiency through the use of technology. This step is considered important considering global tariff policies and changes in world trade flows continue to grow. The Strait of Hormuz itself is known as one of the most vital trade routes in the world.

More than a quarter of global oil supplies cross the line every day. Any potential disruption in the region risks cutting off market access to Middle Eastern countries and causing a domino effect on global supply chains.

HMS CEO, Reef Man, called 2026 an important momentum to unite the company's vision in the face of rapid market changes. According to him, strategic alignment is the key so that companies are able to move more focused and consistently.

"Alignment is the most important thing so that we can step more focused and consistent in facing market changes," said Reef Man in his official message to stakeholders. As part of the company's strategy for 2026, HMS has set three main pillars. First, international expansion through the opening of a new branch in Vietnam to expand operational reach in Southeast Asia and strengthen regional logistics access.

Second, the company will strengthen its service specialization in the Project Logistics, Air Freight, and Less Container Load (LCL) Export sectors. This focus is expected to be able to improve freight delivery connectivity faster and integrated in various international markets.

Third, HMS invests in technology development by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in the company's operational systems. This technology was developed by the internal IT team to create a logistics system that is more transparent, efficient, and responsive to customer needs.

Through this strategy, HMS is optimistic that it will be able to face global trade pressures while strengthening its position in the international logistics industry. Management affirmed its commitment to make 2026 a new year of growth for the company. "Let's make 2026 a glorious year of growth with the spirit of 1 Team, 1 Goal, 1 Mission," concluded Reef Man.
