Middle East Tensions Disrupt Global Logistics, HMS Prepares Expansion and Technology Strategy in 2026
RIGHTNEWS. ID-Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region involving the United States, Israel, and Iran are starting to have an impact on the global logistics industry. The conflict triggers disruptions to strategic shipping lanes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, resulting in increased shipping costs and extending the distribution time of international goods.
This situation is one of the concerns in the Iftar event with Hyper Mega Shipping (HMS) which was attended by management, business partners, and all staff of the company. The event was also filled with tausiyah from Ustaz Dennis Lim with the theme "Ramadan: Momentum to Become a Better Person with Integrity."
On this occasion, HMS also conveyed the company's strategic direction for 2026 which focuses on strengthening global connectivity and technology-based efficiency. This step was taken in response to international trade dynamics and increasingly complex global tariff policy changes.
As is known, the Strait of Hormuz is one of the most vital shipping lanes in the world because it passes through more than a quarter of the global oil supply. If this route is disrupted or closed, trade access to the Middle East region will be significantly affected.
HMS CEO, Reef Man, said that 2026 is an important momentum for the company to align its vision and strategic steps to face global market changes.
"Alignment of direction is the most important thing so that we can step more focused and consistent in facing market changes," said Reef Man in an official message to stakeholders.
As part of the company's strategy, HMS has set three main pillars that will be the focus of development by 2026.
First, international expansion into Vietnam. HMS plans to open a new branch in the country to expand its operational reach while providing more stable logistics access for customers in the Southeast Asia region.

Second, strengthening service specialization. The company will strengthen its competencies in the Project Logistics, Air Freight, and LCL Export consolidation sectors to provide faster and integrated global connectivity.
Third, investment in technology and artificial intelligence (AI). HMS's information technology team is currently integrating AI in the company's modernization process to create a smarter, more transparent, and more efficient logistics system.
Through these various initiatives, HMS is optimistic that it will be able to face global trade challenges while creating sustainable growth opportunities.
"Let's make 2026 a glorious year of growth with the spirit of 1 Team, 1 Goal, 1 Mission," concluded Reef Man.
