The Growing Warehouse Industry
The Transportation and Warehousing sector ranks as the second-highest contributor to economic growth, following the Accommodation and Food & Beverage sector. The industry recorded a 9.56% year-on-year (YoY) growth, contributing IDR 345.6 trillion to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2024.
However, several challenges are anticipated in 2025. The weakening of the U.S. dollar exchange rate against the Indonesian rupiah, labor shortages, declining purchasing power, diverse regulatory frameworks, and increasing competition remain key hurdles for the sector.
Challenges in the Logistics Industry
In response to these challenges, logistics companies continue to adapt to digitalization and technological advancements by investing in technology and strengthening business networks and international collaborations.
The year 2025 is predicted to bring significant transformations to the logistics sector, driven by the adoption of technology, sustainability, and changing consumer expectations.
