Inspiring: UI's UIRT-03, a Student-Built Formula Race Car, to Compete in Formula Student Czech Republic 2025
WARTAKOTALIVE.COM, BEJI - UIRT-03, created by the UI Racing Team (the Formula Student team from Universitas Indonesia), is ready to compete in the Formula Student Czech Republic 2025 at the Autodrom Most circuit, Czech Republic, this coming August 2025.
Emir Chairullah, Head of the Sub-Directorate for Media Relations and Digital Reputation Management at UI, explained that this car, a product of Indonesian ingenuity, is not merely the result of a technical process, but also a collaboration and collective struggle of UI students.
“UIRT-03 is the successor to UIRT-02, which previously achieved success at the Formula Student Czech Republic 2024,” said Emir in a statement on Tuesday (1/7/2025).
At that time, UIRT-02 achieved 3rd place for Business Plan Presentation, 6th place in the Cost and Manufacturing Report, and 13th place for the Engineering Design Report.

In this third generation, UIRT brings a number of significant upgrades, including improved aerodynamics, a lighter weight, and a more stable and precise electronic system integration.
The entire design and manufacturing process was carried out by a cross-departmental team of students, ranging from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, to Communication and Business, as a form of practical and multidisciplinary-based education.
“The team is divided into two main parts, namely technical and non-technical. The technical team encompasses five areas (engine, vehicle dynamics, body & aerodynamics, electrical, and frame) responsible for the technical aspects of vehicle development,” he said.
The non-technical team (internal & finance, media & communication, and sponsors) handles team operations, funding management, and external communication and partnerships.
Before competing in the Formula Student Czech Republic 2025, UIRT-03 was showcased at the Grand Launching event held at the UI Rotunda Field in May 2025.

This event not only introduced the latest version of the car but also served as a networking space between the team and the automotive community, academic community, sponsors, and the public. Free wheel alignment vouchers were even given to the first 100 visitors as a token of appreciation.
The UIRT-03 Grand Launching was organized by the UI Racing Team together with HSR as the event partner.

Through this launch, the UI Racing Team proves that Indonesian students are capable of building globally competitive automotive works.
“From the UI Rotunda to European racetracks, this team carries the message that the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and daring to dream big is the main fuel to achieve success,” he concluded.
