HMS Optimistis to Grow 20% by 2026, Vietnam Expansion Key to Business Strategy

10 March 2026

Jakarta, Nusantara Info: Amid global economic uncertainty and ever-changing geopolitical dynamics, PT Hyper Mega Shipping (HMS) views 2026 as a strategic moment to accelerate business growth. This international logistics company targets approximately 20 percent growth through regional expansion, strengthening specialist services, and technology transformation based on artificial intelligence (AI).

HMS CEO Reef Man stated that 2026 will be a crucial phase for the company to align its business direction to be more adaptable to changes in global supply chains.

“The year 2026 will be a crucial moment for HMS to align the company's vision and steps. Alignment of direction is very important so that we can move more focused and consistent in facing global market changes,” said Reef Man in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (4/3/2026).

Vietnam Becomes a Strategic Gateway for Asian Trade

As part of its international expansion strategy, HMS will open new operational branches in Vietnam. The country is considered increasingly strategic in the global trade ecosystem as it rapidly develops into a manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.

This step also strengthens HMS's logistics network in the region, which has long been a main route for international trade.

According to Reef Man, Vietnam was chosen not only for its strategic location but also because of the increasing global industrial investment in the country. Many large manufacturing companies are now making Vietnam a production base for the world market.

“In Vietnam, there are many factories from global companies. We see great opportunities for collaboration between Indonesia and Vietnam, both for exporting Indonesian products and importing industrial raw materials,” he explained.

In addition, Vietnam has strong trade access to the United States market, opening opportunities for HMS to develop new distribution channels to global markets through the country.

HMS has been operating weekly direct open consolidation (LCL) services from various international ports, including Ho Chi Minh City. Overall, the company has approximately 27 active ports of loading worldwide connected in its logistics network.

Strengthening Specialist Services Amid Global Competition

Amid increasingly fierce international logistics industry competition, HMS is also strengthening its business focus on high value-added specialist services.

The three sectors that are priorities for the company's development include:

  • Project Logistics for large-scale industrial project shipments
  • Air Freight for fast and high-value logistics needs
  • LCL Export Consolidation which makes it easier for businesses to export goods in smaller volumes but still efficiently

Reef Man admitted that HMS has been known as a strong player in the import sector. However, going forward, the company will be more aggressive in developing export services to expand its international customer base.

“Historically, people have known HMS to be stronger in imports. Going forward, we will continue to push exports to grow and become widely known by global customers,” he explained.

Digital Transformation and AI Integration

In addition to business expansion, HMS also places digital transformation as one of the main pillars of its corporate strategy.

Artificial intelligence technology is now being integrated into various operational systems, ranging from digital marketing development, website content management, to customer service improvement.

According to Reef Man, the use of AI is not just following technology trends, but a strategic necessity so that the company does not fall behind in global logistics industry competition.

Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence

“We cannot ignore technology. AI is very helpful in accelerating business processes, especially in marketing, customer service, and digital system management,” he said.

One of the digital transformation steps taken by HMS is eliminating manual document systems by replacing them with electronic Delivery Order (e-DO) and e-invoice.

Through this digital system, customers no longer have to pick up physical documents directly. The entire process can be done online through the company's system.

This step has proven to have a significant impact on operational efficiency.

“With document digitalization, paper usage is almost completely eliminated. In terms of operational costs, efficiency can reach about 40 percent,” explained Reef Man.

Anticipating Global Conflict Risks

Although optimistic, HMS is also not oblivious to global geopolitical risks that have the potential to disrupt international supply chains, especially conflicts involving the Middle East region.

Tensions in the region can affect important trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, which are major routes for global energy and goods distribution.

If these routes are disrupted, logistics ships usually have to take alternative routes via the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, which can add up to two weeks to delivery time.

Nevertheless, Reef Man believes the logistics industry remains highly resilient to global crises.

He cited the example of the Covid-19 pandemic, when container shipping costs soared dramatically but the logistics industry actually experienced a surge in activity.

“Logistics is an industry that is always needed. Even during the pandemic, demand actually increased. Therefore, we remain optimistic that we can maintain positive growth,” he revealed.

With a combination of regional expansion, technological innovation, and strengthening of specialist logistics services, HMS aims to expand its business network while strengthening its position as a competitive international logistics player in the Asia Pacific region.
